Alexandra Kauka Hamill was born in Austria and lives in Florida, as well as in NY. She served and serves on the boards of the Metropolitan Opera, the Washington Opera, the Arizona Opera, the Salzburg Festival Society, and the Salzburg Easter Festival, and on the boards of several cultural centers and hospitals. In 2017, Alexandra Kauka was awarded an honorary Erwin Piscator Award, given by ‘Elysium – between two Continents, Academy of continuing education in the Arts’ in recognition of her support of Arts and Cultural Institutions on both sides of the Atlantic.
Alexandra Kauka is president and executive officer of Kauka Promedia Inc., a company managing the copyrights of her late husband, Rolf Kauka, often described as the ‘European Walt Disney’. Promedia Inc. published more than 80 cartoon characters in various media, including magazines in 16 languages, and books, television series, and family entertainment movies, which have been distributed in 30 countries. Since 2015, most copyrights were acquired by YFE (Your Family Entertainment) Vienna/Munich.
The State of Georgia created the Rolf and Alexandra Wildlife Management Area on land Mrs. Kauka, an active environmentalist, transferred to the State.
Mrs. Kauka is married to Sterling Morton Hamill.
