Having played the violin since age 7, Matthias is an avid classical music fan and has a special connection to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra: as a former member of the Austrian Jeunesse Youth Orchestra in Salzburg, Matthias enjoyed being taught by members of the VPO (incl. former VPO concertmaster Prof. Rainer Küchl) for many summers.

Matthias Ederer is a Senior Managing Director at Blue Owl Capital and member of the Direct Lending Investment Team. In his role as Co-Head of Underwriting, he oversees the day-to-day underwriting of direct lending investments. Before joining Blue Owl, Matthias was a Partner at BC Partners, where he co-founded the credit business and served on the investment committee. Prior to that, he was a Partner at Wingspan Investment Management. Matthias began his career at Goldman Sachs & Co., working in the Special Situations Group and the Bank Loan Distressed Investing Group in London and New York.

Matthias holds an MPhil in Economics from Oxford University (Nuffield College), a BSc in Economics from the University of Warwick, and is fluent in German, English and French.
